Pressure Rehearsal
Practice the moment before it happens, so your body already knows how to respond.
The Science
Your brain does not fully separate a vividly imagined rep from a physically practiced one. Mentally rehearsing a high pressure moment activates similar pathways to actually practicing it, so the rep counts.
The Practice
Composure is not something you find in the moment. It is something you already rehearsed.
Try It Today
Two minutes, before every practice, for two weeks. That is enough reps for it to actually change what happens in the real moment.
How to Use Them
- 1Close your eyes. Picture the exact moment that gets to you: the penalty kick, the free throw, the last play.
- 2Feel it. Let your heart rate come up a little, that is the point.
- 3Now play the version where you handle it. See yourself breathe once, reset, and execute clean.
- 4Open your eyes. Say your reset word out loud, once.
