Mind work comes down to three things: read, write, and listen. Writing is the one that makes you honest. A thought in your head can spin for hours. A thought on paper has to become a sentence, and a sentence is something you can look at, question, and change.
After a game your mind starts telling a story about what happened, and by the next morning that story has set. These three questions get you to the truth first, while it is still fresh: what was good, what to adjust, and what comes next.
The Science
Writing something down forces you to name it instead of just feeling it, which is what actually turns a game into a lesson instead of a mood.
The Practice
Do it the same day, while it is still fresh, not a week later.
Keep it to three lines each, and do it the same day. Use the button below to answer them in your Journal, or grab the free guide for more prompts like these.
Write It Out
After the game
- 01
What did I do well today?
- 02
What is one thing I will adjust?
- 03
What is the next right step?
